CEC Announces Break In Its Meeting Until 10:00 On February 9 (19:37, Monday, February 8, 2010)

The Central Electoral Commission has announced a break in its meetings until 10:00 on February 9.

A representative of the press service of the Central Electoral Commission announced this to journalists.

According to the representative, the break was announced at about 19:00 after consideration of new election-result protocols from district election commissions.

As Ukrainian News earlier reported, voting in the second round of the Ukrainian presidential elections took place from 08:00 to 20:00 on February 7.

The two candidates in the second round of the presidential elections are the Party of the Regions’ leader Viktor Yanukovych and Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, who won the largest numbers of votes in the first round of the presidential elections on January 17.

According to the results of various exit polls, Yanukovych won 48.50-50.26% of the votes in the second round of the presidential elections and Tymoshenko won 44.20-45.70% (the margins between Yanukovych and Tymoshenko in the exit polls range from 2.8% to 6.06%).
