The World Congress of Ukrainians is concerned over the organized transfer of citizens to polling stations in Donetsk and Luhansk regions during the second round of presidential elections, the representatives of the congress told at a press conference.
The organization considers that such a transfer was provided to increase the turnout of voters or to guarantee voting for one of the presidential candidates.
According to former head of the organization Askold Lozynskyi the congress finds it difficult to estimate the voting on February 7.
In particular, the president of the Ukrainian Congress Committee of America and chief observer of the congress Tamara Oleksi said that on the voting day, political companying, in particular, billboards depicting one of the presidential candidate Viktor Yanukovych were found in Kyiv, Chernihiv, Donetsk, Zhytomyr, and Uzhhorod.
Besides, copies of passports were registered during voting in Zakarpattia region.
The congress also expressed its concern over the amendment of the election legislation on the eve of the presidential elections, which counteracts to the democratic practice.
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, the two candidates in the second round of the presidential elections are the Party of the Regions' leader Viktor Yanukovych and Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, who won the largest numbers of votes in the first round of the presidential elections on January 17.
According to the results of various exit polls, Yanukovych won 48.50-50.26% of the votes in the second round of the presidential elections and Tymoshenko won 44.20-45.70% (the margin between Yanukovych and Tymoshenko ranged from 2.8% to 6.06%).
