Mykhailo Okhendovskyi, a member of the Central Election Commission, does not rule out that the preliminary results of the second round of the presidential elections will become known only on February 11.
He gave his position to the press.
"The situation shows that the entry into the Vybory [Election] system of data from protocols of elections commissions of polling stations is essentially protracted and we cannot exclude that on Tuesday, Wednesday, or on Thursday we will be able to announce only final preliminary results of the elections," he said.
Okhendovskyi noted that the official results of the elections will be declared by the Central Election Commission within the time limit set by the law - no later than February 17, 2010.
At the same time, Central Election Commission's Deputy Chairman Andrii Mahera expects the preliminary results of the second round of the presidential elections to become available until February 9.
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, on Sunday, February 7 at 20:00 polling stations closed in the second round of the presidential elections, and the vote count started there.
Ukraine had to choose the president between Yanukovych and Tymoshenko who achieved the best results in the first round of the presidential elections on January 17, 2010.
According to preliminary results of the exit polls, Viktor Yanukovych was supported in the second round of the presidential elections by 48.7-50.26% of voters and Yulia Tymoshenko was supported by 44.2-45.5% of voters. The difference between the result of Yanukovych and Tymoshenko is between 3.2% and 6.06% of the vote according to the preliminary results.
Yanukovych won 51.30% votes and Tymoshenko received 43.27% votes, according to results of vote count of 27.43% protocols of district election commissions.
