U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine William Taylor, who is ending his diplomatic mission in Ukraine, is confident of Ukraine's future achievements in economic and political reforms.
He gave his position at a ceremony of laying of foundation of the new building of the US Embassy in Kyiv.
"Nevertheless, I am very optimistic. I am sure, the situation will improve, especially in economy, since it cannot be worse," he said.
He voiced confidence that President Viktor Yuschenko, the Cabinet of Ministers, and the Verkhovna Rada will be able to consolidate their efforts.
Taylor said Washington has yet to make a decision about a new candidacy for the post of ambassador to Ukraine.
"The competition is tough in the USA among those willing to come to Ukraine," he said.
Big discussions are underway on the matter, he said.
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, President Viktor Yuschenko has conferred the For Merits Order of third degree on U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine William Taylor.
In this award Yuschenko marked the personal contribution of Taylor in the development of the Ukrainian-US relations.
